I am honored to share that I am a member of DIFFA Dallas Style Council for 2022-23.
One of the ways that DIFFA Dallas raises money is through its annual event held each Spring called House of DIFFA. Each year is based on a theme and it is an over the top fashion experience with a dynamic fashion show, food/drink, silent auction, live auction, dancing and fun. This year’s title is House of DIFFA: The List. It will be held at the Hilton Anatole in Dallas and will be attended by 1500 people.
This honor is given by DIFFA Dallas, which recognizes individuals and their contributions to the Dallas community and dedication to philanthropy.
DIFFA Dallas Ambassadors are individuals who have made significant contributions to Dallas community and are dedicated to supporting DIFFA’s mission. Ambassadors advocate for DIFFA and its work, helping raise awareness and funds to support organizations fighting HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.
DIFFA Dallas is the local chapter of a national organization called Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS. DIFFA was founded in NYC in 1984 by a group of designers and other professionals in the design industry who were inspired to take action in response to the AIDS epidemic. Since then, DIFFA has raised over $45 million to support organizations fighting HIV/AIDS and other life-threatening illnesses.
Being named a part of the Style Council for DIFFA Dallas is a way for me to use my platform as an artist to impact my community positively. As an artist, art can bring people together and create positive change. I am excited to use my art to support DIFFA’s mission and help make a difference in the fight against HIV/AIDS and other illnesses.
I am deeply committed to philanthropy. I have supported several organizations over the years, including Dallas Children’s Advocacy Center through their fundraising event, Art for Advocacy and Dwell with Dignity through numerous Thrift Studio fundraisers where I have also served as Art Chair. My commitment to giving back to my community is one of the reasons I create and I am always thrilled when what I donate can help others.
Being named a DIFFA Dallas Ambassador is a significant honor as a contemporary artist working primarily in painting and sculpture. I am excited to also support this year’s fundraising event House of DIFFA: The List with my work. For the second year in a row I have designed a jacket that will be in the silent auction. I’m very excited to share that I have also created a new piece of artwork titled “Our Superpower” that will appear in the Live Auction at the event.
